Stem Cell Mini-Symposium 

On Thursday, May 2nd, the Institute for Stem Cell & Regenerative Medicine on the University of Washington campus is hosting a mini symposium for Seattle’s stem cell community! A series of talks will discuss current obstacles in stem cell development, cancer research, and tissue regeneration, all led by various experts in the field. The event will feature both session talks and Poster Sessions!



Stem Major College Application Planning Seminar 

This virtual seminar hosted by Think Academy US will focus on the balance of correctly organized extracurricular activities and academics, and its role in providing a solid STEM background for college admission season! The seminar is free and will be held on Thursday, May 2nd

 


“Build-A-Brain" Educational STEM Workshops - “Basics of Electronics”-STEMEvents-May2024

“Build-A-Brain" Educational STEM Workshops - “Basics of Electronics” 

All May long, the American Space Museum in Titusville, Florida will be hosting workshops focused on the basics of electronics. Attending students will be educated on electronic components and how they work. Additionally, the students will build two basic circuits that they can bring home from the event! The workshops are intended for students/children in grades 1-6. The events are free but pre-registration is required.

Pacific Science Center’s Educator Appreciation Weekend 

This free event for educators will take place on May 4th and 5th at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle! Attendees receive free admission to the center the entire weekend, providing access to all exhibits, shows, and more! This is an amazing networking opportunity for educators looking to broaden their resources and connections. Pre-registration ends on May 1st, so act fast!

STEM Fest 2024 

At the Target Headquarters in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, STEM Fest 2024 will be held! This family friendly event will provide over 50 STEM-related activities and experiments for all ages and is free to attend. Hosted by Northside STEM, the event will be held on Saturday, May 18th.

Pacific Science Center’s Exploration for All  

On May 19th from 8am-10am, Seattle’s Pacific Science Center is holding a special free visit option for individuals and families looking for more sensory friendly experiences. During this event, the center will be closed to the public so softer lighting, lower noise levels and visual stimulation can be provided to guests. Exhibits available will include a Live Science Show, Tinker Tank maker space, Planetarium open house, PACCAR IMAX theater, hands-on exhibits, and more! Tickets will be available at the door!

 



STEM Storytime Extravaganza!-STEMEvents-May2024

STEM Storytime Extravaganza! 

Three children's storybook authors are headlining this free family friendly event on May 25th! At the University of Washington's bookstore, authors Nora Nickum, Laurie Ann Thompson, and Leslie Barnard Booth will read aloud their STEM-themed books to attendees. The books are titled This Book is Full of Holes, You Are a Robin! and One Day This Tree Will Fall. All three authors boast a love of nature and science that reflects through their work, making it a perfect fit for STEM enthusiasts of all ages. Admission is free, pre-registration required.

Reflecting on Personal Journeys: Women Advancing in STEM 

Virtually hosted through LinkedIn, Cyber Security and Application Analyst Onyinyechi Akuwudike is speaking alongside Microsoft Product Manager Regina Asuquo to discuss their personal journeys, challenges misogyny has brought, and triumphs. Additionally, the pair seek to celebrate women in STEM as a whole and to highlight their achievements and stories. Advice on how to navigate the field as a woman will also be discussed. This empowering event is free to attend on Saturday, May 25th
